Fishing Game Concept Exploration
After reviewing the task, we felt that the main challenge here is not only to create a new fishing-themed game visually, but to translate the core mechanic in a way that feels natural inside the new setting.
In the original game, the logic is very clear: the magnet attracts the coin value, so the player immediately understands what is happening. There is no friction between the mechanic and the theme.
In the new fishing game, we believe it would be too simple to keep a literal magnet and coin. Technically it would still work, but thematically it would create a mismatch with the fishing world and weaken the emotional impact of the feature.
Because of that, we decided not to start from a standard approach such as one general concept image with background and symbols only. Instead, we started from what we feel is the real heart of this game: the anticipation moment inside the feature mechanic.
The exciting part is not just that a value symbol lands. The exciting part is that once the player sees the first value symbol, they immediately start hoping that the “collector” symbol will land too. Then, when the last reel spins, there is a strong extra anticipation moment: will it bring another value symbol, or maybe even trigger the bonus?
We felt this emotional sequence is the real strength of the game, so our first step was to explore which “value symbol + collector symbol” combinations could make this mechanic feel organic in a fishing setting.
To make this exploration more useful, we prepared 7 different concept directions instead of locking too early into only one idea.
Hook + Fish
Value symbol: Fish with a number on top
Collector symbol: Fishing hook
Why it works:
This is the most direct and intuitive metaphor. Fish appear, but without the hook there is no catch. The hook can also appear alone, but if there are no fish, there is no reward. Only the combination creates the win. Very easy to understand for any player.
Diver + Pearl Shell
Value symbol: Closed pearl shell with a number on top
Collector symbol: Diver / pearl collector
Why it works:
This direction is less literal, but still connected to the wider fishing / sea world. The shell gives a very clean and readable shape for numbers, and the diver has a friendlier feel than a sharp hook. It also helps move the game further away from very familiar bass-fishing references.
Net + Crab
Value symbol: Crab with number
Collector symbol: Fishing net
Why it works:
This option keeps the sea-harvest feeling while giving us a compact, symmetrical value symbol that can hold numbers nicely. The net is also a very natural “collector” element and easy to animate clearly.
Boat + Squid / Octopus
Value symbol: Squid or octopus head with number integrated into the form
Collector symbol: Wooden fishing boat with net
Why it works:
This gives the game a stronger marine identity and a more distinctive personality. It is also visually memorable and can feel richer and more adventurous than a classic river-fishing setup.
Offshore sportfisher + Marlin
Value symbol: Marlin with number
Collector symbol: Modern fishing boat
Why it works:
Marlin is an iconic sport-fishing image and gives the feature a premium, aspirational feeling. The only challenge is that marlin has a sharper silhouette, so it is slightly harder to combine elegant readability with the number placement.
Spearfisher + Grouper
Value symbol: Grouper with number
Collector symbol: Underwater hunter / diver character
Why it works:
This direction is bold and visually strong, with a more dramatic underwater mood. At the same time, it is a more aggressive theme, so we see it as a niche option rather than the safest mainstream choice.
Fishing Scale + Bass / Carp
Value symbol: Bass or carp with number
Collector symbol: Fishing weighing scale
Why it works:
This is probably the closest direction to classic freshwater fishing logic and may feel immediately familiar to players. At the same time, it also sits closest to existing market references, so from an originality point of view we placed it last.
At this stage, our main goal is to align with you on the right mechanic-language first: what exactly is being collected, and what exactly is doing the collecting. We believe this decision will define how natural, exciting, and believable the whole game feels for the player.
We hope you enjoy the results as much as we enjoyed the process.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!
